Reading Notes: Homer's Iliad, Part A
Iliad: The Quarrel (cont.)
Repetition: "much against his will," "much against her will" a few paragraphs later.
Characters: Thetis, daughter of the sea. The story weave in mythical characters in a way that seems like it was common. Thetis is the mother of Achilles.
Ending the Story: "But Achilles sat in his tent and fretted, for there was nothing that he liked so much as the cry of the battle." open-ended ending. help to set up for a sequel or continuing the story.

Action Writing: "She knelt down before him, and her left hand she laid upon his knees, and with her right hand she caught hold of his beard." added under was a picture of the description. Used picture to add to the storytelling of description
Setting: Island of Lemnos, used Greek names because it is set in ancient Greece.
The Embassy to Achilles
Beautiful Sentences: Lengthy description of how to Patroclus made the feast. It describes it like a recipe. In later paragraphs, Hector said to burn the ship. Words used in feast and burning of ships: burn, smoke, fire.

Dialogues: Lengthy, several paragraphs of just dialogues from Achilles.
Characters and Settings: used a lot in a sentence. "As for me, if the gods suffer me to reach my home, my father Peleus shall choose me a wife. Many maidens, daughters of kings, are there in Phthia and in Hellas, and not one among them who would scorn me if I came a-wooing."
